  • Rapid Response grants in response to the Ukraine crisis

The objective of this Call is to enhance civic engagement for a better response to the Ukraine crisis.

The Call is launched under the Programme Outcome 1 Strengthened democratic culture and civic awareness and covers one area of support of the Active Citizens Fund in Romania, “Democracy, active citizenship, good governance and transparency”.

Eligible applicants are exclusively legally established Romanian non-governmental and non-profit organizations (NGOs) that have implemented or are currently implementing a project financed through Active Citizens Fund Romania, as project promoter or partner.

Project grant rate can be up to 100% of the total eligible costs of the project.

Eligible projects will focus on measures to enhance civic engagement in addressing challenges arising from the Ukraine crisis. Through the supported projects,, citizens and local actors (informal/civic groups, NGOs, volunteers etc.) shall be empowered to:

- actively participate in the process of local public decisions, data collection, cooperation for improved coordination of the humanitarian response, and to critically engage with information and media content..

engage in watchdog and/or advocacy projects in response to emerging public challenges associated with the Ukrainian crisis

address information inequality in society associated with the Ukrainian war context and initiatives to engage in initiatives combating misinformation, disinformation, fake news.

Initiatives can include formal and informal coordination between CSOs to stimulate cooperation, a more efficient allocation of resources and avoid duplication of efforts.

There are strongly encouraged partnerships with other NGOs in the same or in other complementary field of activity, as well as with other stakeholders.
