Active Citizens 4 Human Rights, an online and offline capacity building program for human rights NGOs
The Active Citizens 4 Human Rights will run from March to October 2021, with monthly online meetings and an offline event in Oslo, Norway. The program is organized by the Norwegian Helsinki Committee, the entity designated to deal with bilateral relations on behalf of Norway under the Active Citizens Fund and the The Civil Society Development Foundation and Frivillighet Norge, on behalf of Active Citizens Fund Romania.
The Active Citizens 4 Human Rights will bring together more than 50 organizations working primarily on human rights issues from all Active Citizens Fund countries and Norway, giving them the opportunity to discuss the most difficult and pressing issues they face in their activity, in order to strengthen their organizational capacity.
The program will include the following stages:
-
1. Call and selection of participating organizations, January-February 2021.
- 2. Involvement of selected organizations in monthly meetings (1 meeting per month) of approximately 4 hours each, March - June 2021, on various topics of interest such as:
- March – Connecting month – an online facilitated meeting that will bring together all the organizations involved in the program from Norway and beneficiary states where we will create the context in which they can meet informally and start sharing important aspects related to their work, a meeting from which we will extract ideas about their capacity building needs.
- April – Crisis management month – facilitated online meeting that will bring together all organizations involved in the program, which will bring experts on the topic of the month and propose discussions on processes and methodologies on how to address crisis situations, especially in the pandemic reality (but not only) as material for discussions.
- May – Constituency month – facilitated online meeting that will bring together all the organizations involved in the program, which will bring experts on the topic of the month and will propose discussions on processes and methodologies on how to attract more supporters for the organization's activity.
- June – Campaigning month – an online facilitated meeting that will bring together all organizations involved in the program, which will bring experts on the topic of the month and propose discussions on processes and methodologies on how to effectively plan and implement human rights campaigns, especially at local level.
- In the periods between the monthly meetings, there will be a series of “homework” that will consolidate the learning process from the workshops, on the proposed topics.
- 3. Based on the online meetings, we will have some more "homework" to do between July and August / September 2021 in order to prepare for the offline meeting in Oslo.
- 4. Offline meeting in Oslo, Norway, for 2 days in September / October 2021. More information about this meeting will be sent to the organizations selected for the program.
For this program, FDSC seeks to select 4 organizations from Romania, small NGOs / grass route / local working on human rights issues, interested in strengthening their capacity, motivated to get involved throughout the program and willing to participate actively in all stages. For the online events several different people from the selected organizations can participate, for the offline event in Oslo, only one person per organization will be able to participate.
Costs related to participation in the event (transport, accommodation, meals for the offline event in Oslo) are covered by FDSC. Working language for all meetings: English
The application form as well as additional details about the event can be found HERE
Registrations for the program can be made until Friday, February 5, 2021, by filling in the form above. The selection will be made until February 10, 2021 and will take into account the interest and motivation to participate, the relevant thematic experience, the way in which the information and knowledge acquired from the program will be used.
