January 2022 was the month when we met with over 20 NGOs from Romania and Norway at the workshop „Human rights from a gender equality perspective", organized in Bucharest by the Civil Society Development Foundation and Frivillighet Norge.
Norwegian experts have inspired us with examples of good practice that can be adapted to the Romanian context, but also with ideas on how civil society organizations can strengthen their role in advocacy and watchdog on human rights and equal treatment, gender equality and combating gender-based violence.

„We know how to say what hurts us, we know how to talk, how to take care of ourselves and now, if we speak our mind, people look at us differently”, says Crenguța, one of the 500 women from Argeș and Ialomița counties with whom Filia worked. The international thematic event „Human rights from a gender equality perspective” brought together more than 20 organisations from Romania and Norway. The event took place in Bucharest between 20-21 January 2022 and it was organized by the Civil Society Development Foundation and the Norwegian organisation Frivillighet Norge under the Fund for Bilateral Relations.
The Association Close to Youth, in partnership with the New Horizons Foundation, builds character among secondary school students in Dolj County through the "HEROES" program, a personal development program that aims to increase self-confidence and assuming integrity as a principle of life.
Following the second round of calls for proposals Active Citizens Fund Romania, launched in February 2021, 71 projects have been selected for funding out of a total of 329 received projects. 9.2 million euro will be allocated to non-governmental organizations in Romania through the Active Citizens Fund Romania.
